Updated March 4, 2004.  Please do not copy these images.

Photo
Eva at age nine.   When Eva's family moved to Bowie, Maryland in 1972, they were living "in the middle of nowhere."  Today, Bowie is solidly suburban, and the Metro train to downtown Washington, DC, is nearby.

Eva in 1978, at Goddard Junior High School.  She was already noted for her artwork, as seen at right.  (Photos from the school yearbook)

Can you find Eva in the choir?

Eva drew this comical bee for her high school yearbook in 1980.

From Ruth Murphy's yearbook, where Eva drew her friend as an elaborately-coiffed Indian princess

Photo Eva at the Kennedy Center
in 1983 (age 20).  Years
later, she and Chuck Brown
would be performing there.

Artwork from around the same time, 1983.  Eva enjoyed experimenting with many different art media.  This picture was done using oil pastels.   From the collection of Isabel Cassidy Bligh.

Eva's all-time favorite singer and songwriter was Stevie Wonder. As a teenager she had this novelty photo taken of herself posing with a cardboard picture of her hero.

The original "Boy in the Nest" hangs above the mantle in the Cassidy living room

Nobody remembers who made these posters, or what the gig was on June 26th... of what year?

Eva Cassidy as actress?  Eva starred in the homemade comedy film "Chickens in the Mist" along with Ruth Murphy and her husband Jim Dickey.  I think the three of them wrote (and improvised) the screenplay too.  As one might guess, it was a parody of the movie "Gorillas in the Mist."

Special thanks to Kevin Guerrieri, Ruth Murphy, and Eileen White for the yearbook scans.
